Synopsis
In the aftermath of Zod's activities, Clark develops a new power. Lois gets a new job, Lana takes a new step in her relationship with Lex, and Lex has to deal with a new danger. Meanwhile, an old friend of Lex's arrives in Metropolis.
Full Recap
Martha is watching television on "Dark Thursday" and the recovery in Smallville as Clark returns home from his efforts to secretly rebuild the town. Clark is feeling guilty that he didn't listen to Jor-El and Martha notices that he's looking tired. Working on his chores, Clark has trouble pushing a nail into a board and then sneezes… blowing the barn door off its hinges. Out in the country, Lois is jogging when the barn door lands just behind her.
In Metropolis, Lex and Lana are driving and discussing her move into the manor. Lex notices a Range Rover following them but it turns off and Lex doesn't mention it. Clark is still suffering from a cold and Martha wonders if he caught something when he lost his powers in the Phantom Zone. Lois arrives to tell them about the barn door and notices that their barn door is missing and resolves to look into the situation.
Lex confronts a private investigator, Robert Pontius, about the van following him, who knows where it's based out of. Lex tells the man to take care of it, and then tells Lana that someone has been following him and suspects Lionel, but hasn't called the police. Lex gives her Pontius' number to call in case of an emergency.
Clark arrives at the Daily Planet to talk about his sneezing problem with Chloe, setting off another burst of wind. She agrees to help divert Lois and sends Clark off.
Lex confronts Lionel, who denies having Lex followed and says someone may have seen Lex. Lex says he doesn't remember what happened when he was possessed by Zod and refuses to accept Lionel's help. Lex leaves in the elevator but it grinds to a stop and gas is pumped in. A gas masked figure drops in to take him away.
At the Kent farm, Clark is trying cold remedies. Lionel arrives to tell them about Lex's abduction and ask for Clark's help, warning that Lex might remember his activities during Zod's possession and tell his captors.
Lex wakes up in a warehouse, chained to a table, and the man who grabbed him, Block, demands answers from Lex. He knows Lex was at the Pentagon and had super-powers, and reveals he's killed Pontius.
Lois takes Chloe to the barn door, where Chloe tries to pass it off as a mini-tornado.
Block is talking to his assistant, Wagner, and suggests they team up against their employer. Block shoots Lex in the shoulder to "test" his non-existent power.
Lois isn't buying Chloe's explanation and writes up an article on the barn door and wants Chloe to get it published at the Planet. Chloe passes.
Clark arrives at the manor to find Lana and tells her about Lex's disappearance. She wants to know why he's interested and wants to know how he knew Lex was going to transform before anyone else. Clark refuses to tell her anything and Lana tells him to get out and start searching. After he goes outside, Lana calls Pontius and he listens in. He gets Pontius' name from the answering machine and heads for his office while Lana accidentally finds Lex's security recordings. After seeing that he tapes her, she sees Pontius' report to Lex and the address where he found the Range Rover.
Block is still interrogating Lex and thinks his research may have given him super-powers. Lex tells Block the truth but he doesn't believe it, and he prepares to shoot Lex again. Lex finally admits there's a serum in a LuthorCorp lab and gives him the access code. Block sends Wagner to get it.
Lionel arrives at an office in a clock tower and meets with Oliver Queen, a millionaire who has relocated from Star City. They know each other and Oliver is a boarding school chum of Lex's. Oliver reassures Lionel that he wasn't involved and Lionel notes that Lex and Oliver had a bad relationship. Lionel leaves after warning Oliver off.
A weak and ailing Clark checks in with Chloe and they get Pontius' address. They leave to check it out while Lana goes to the address Pontius reported and promptly gets caught by Block. Clark and Chloe check out Pontius' address and Clark spots a hidden door but is unable to open it in his weakened condition. Chloe suggests he use his "super-breath" to bust down the door and he succeeds. They find the warehouse address and Clark super speeds off after refusing to take Chloe along.
Wagner checks out the stolen serum when Block brings in the captured Lana and prepares to use her to test the serum. Lex warns that the serum is tailored for his blood type. When Block gets close, Lex head butts him and Lana gets the gun. She frees Lex before Block grabs her, but Lex injects him with the serum. Block sets off a fire, trapping Lex and Lana. Clark arrives as they try to climb out a hatch without success. Lex apologizes but the fire mysteriously goes out in a gust of wind and they're left to wonder what happened.
Clark and Chloe are back at the barn preparing to go swimming as Lois shows up to announce the Metropolis Inquisitor accepted her article and she's thrilled to be published. As she leaves, Clark blows away the rain clouds so they can swim.
At the manor, Lana examines the remote to Lex's security monitors then talks to Lex about it. Lex explains the cameras are only for an emergency and she says they go or she does. Lex has the camera from her bedroom removed but refuses to remove the others.
Wagner arrives at Oliver's clock tower office where he's practicing with a bow and arrow. Wagner warns that Block went rogue and reports that Lex has no powers, but someone else was at the warehouse and had special abilities. Oliver sends Wagner to find him then fires an arrow into the Daily Planet's globe.

Smallville Season 6 Episode 1 : Zod
Synopsis
A powerless Clark is trapped in the "Phantom Zone" surrounded by the criminals his father imprisoned there. However, an unexpected ally comes to his aid. Meanwhile, Zod in Lex's body advances his plan to transform Earth into a new Krypton, while using Lana to produce an heir.
Full Recap
From within the prison in space, Clark looks back at Earth as he drifts away. Moving away, he plummets down into the depths and finds himself on a barren plain. As he staggers across the landscape, Clark discovers he’s vulnerable and flying creatures latch onto him. A cloaked woman uses a crystal necklace/weapon bearing the mark of Kal-El to drive them off, then kicks Clark unconscious.
The mob attacks Lionel and Chloe, and Lionel briefly hold off the mob. One of Lionel’s security guards helps them and tells them Lex is on the roof. Lionel gets Chloe and heads up after him.
Lana suggests Lex help the rioters but he announces he is Zod and flies off with her as Chloe and Lionel look on. In his office, Lionel explains that he no longer has the connection to Zod and that he will go to the Kents’ farm to get the dagger. Chloe prepares to go to the Daily Planet to find out more about the computer virus.
Clark wakes up in a building and the woman interrogates him. She recognizes him as Kal-El and reveals she knew Jor-El.
Zod/Lex takes Lana to the warehouse where the spaceship is. He keeps her alive to bear witness to the resurrection of Krypton, then removes a disc from the spaceship, which disappears.
Martha wakes up to find the plane crashed in a snow storm and Lois badly injured. The radio and controls have been destroyed but outside she sees Clark’s Fortress of Solitude. She hauls Lois inside and talks to Jor-El, wondering why he brought them here. Jor-El reveals that Clark messed up by using the dagger against Fine rather then Lex. That destroyed all the copies of Fine but released Zod. Jor-El admits Clark has been banished and he can’t bring him back. He tells Martha to get the dagger and use it on Lex. She agrees and he teleports her and Lois back to Smallville.
In the Phantom Zone, the woman tends to Clark’s wounds and introduces herself as Raya. She explains that Jor-El created the Zone as a prison but she was his assistant and he sent her there to protect her, but refused to leave and died trying to save Krypton. Clark refuses to accept defeat and tries to find a way out.
Chloe is at the Daily Planet going through the Kryptonian papers when someone comes in. She confronts him and almost put a bullet in him, before recognizing him as Jimmy Olsen, who she had a relationship with.
Zod brings Lana to Luthor Manor and reveals he consumed Lex’s “essence.” Zod is able to temporarily deactivate the virus so he can hack into the Pentagon where there’s something he needs. The black ship can send a pulse that will reshape Earth into Krypton, a planet that he can rule. He needs to use the military satellites to broadcast the pulse, and tells her she can live if she gives him an heir. He then impales her to the wall through her palm and leaves for the Pentagon. She manages to free herself.
Raya and Clark make their way through the Zone while she reveals the gateway will only open to someone of the House of El. Two men attack them, one of them is Nam-Ek (from “Arrival”). Raya tells them she was bringing Clark to them so they could all escape.
Martha finds the dagger in the barn and Lionel and Lana both find her. Martha tells them she can use the dagger to kill Lex but Lana warns she’ll never get close enough, but Lana can. Zod comes back from the Pentagon with a computer control unit and finds that Lana has freed herself. She agrees to give him his heir and they start to embrace, but Zod easily thwarts her and throws her across the room before destroying the knife.
Jimmy, who is now working at the Daily Planet, tells Chloe that he was in the basement when the chaos struck. They’re interrupted when the building vibrates and an overwhelming noise bursts out.
Nam-Ek takes Clark to the gateway and demands entrance. Raya tells him that it’s Clark’s blood that provides the key and asks for his knife, then cuts Nam-Ek’s throat. While Raya holds off his comrade and other criminals approach, she tells Clark to run for the gate. They stab her as Clark activates the portal, and he and they are all sucked through the gate.
Clark lands in Smallville (along with several other bursts of light scattered elsewhere) and gets to the barn where Lionel and Martha are trying to take cover. After saving them, they tell him where Zod is. At the manor, Zod is choking Lana when Clark confronts him. Clark destroys the computer, cutting off the transformation beams, and Zod attacks him. Zod hauls Clark into the sky and then off into the forest and the two fight it out. With Clark on the ropes, Zod tells him to kneel so his loved ones will be spared. Clark does so… then takes his hand holding the “S” necklace/weapon he got from Raya. He leaves it in Zod’s hand and it traps Zod’s essence inside itself, freeing Lex who collapses unconscious.
Clark visits Lois at the hospital and she has vague memories but nothing specific of her visit to the Fortress. They share a moment before remembering what they supposedly think of each other.
Lex confronts Lana at the hospital. He doesn’t remember what happened but promises he’ll rebuild everything he helped destroy. At the Daily Planet, Clark visits Chloe to make sure she’s safe and talk about the kiss she gave him. She dismisses it and introduces him to Jimmy Olsen. He invites her to dinner while Clark looks on.
At the barn, Clark tells Martha that he left the crystal at the Fortress for safekeeping, but it’s dead and Jor-El didn’t respond. He worries that things are changing but Martha assures him that every world needs its heroes.
Lionel is sketching from his memories, and draws a Kryptonian symbol with the word “Power” under it. At the manor, Lex finds a chunk of metal from the disk Zod used to trigger the black ship’s pulse. And in Argentina, one of the flying demons from the Zone flies across the land.
